Using the literature data bank
This needs a bit of practice. Once you have got the hang of it, you'll be able to find references to a specific author's name, to titles or a specific keyword quickly and in a differentiated way. There are also many other ways of conducting a search, e.g. by year, name of a journal, languages, etc.
Titles
Titles are available from monographs, volumes incl. works by several authors, journals, university papers, grey literature, etc. A separate search may also be made via the headings on the Entry Screen
Search by keyword
To look for keywords. The list of keywords may be called up in alphabetical or hierarchic order for your search.
It is advisable to try a number of different keywords for a subject in your search, as subject areas also tend to overlap.
Search by template
The Suchmaske templates can be used for simple searches, e.g. for authors or titles, and also for complex ones with 'and / or' combinations. With Free Text Search, all fields will be searched for specific terms you have put in.
Search by list
The Lists can be used for quick searches, e.g. by author, year of publications, journal title, etc.
Help
Individual menu items generally have commentaries attached at the bottom of the pages.
With a little patience
you'll soon be able to make use of the databank's full potential. We'd be grateful if you'd let us know of any problems or difficulties so that we may provide the best possible service. We'd also be pleased to hear if you managed well with the system!
